As for the clicker, they are referring to placement on the reel, not function. In other words, anglers in the UK, CA and US have preferences and they are catering to them. For example, in the UK most like the lever on the front top of the reel. In the US, most prefer the bottom rear location. So approaching it this way helps them provide more options.

Interesting...Reasons as to why this is? Benefits or negatives on either way??

None to speak of, it's mostly personal preference.

This was smart on their part by putting out an introductory model and take a chunk of the market they were missing. People will buy it to say they own a "KingPin". We will see on the quality with time. I do not like the look but others will. I like spoked type models and not the holes. It is nice to have another option out there. KingPin has a loyal following and this will increase their market share. The nice thing is guys can get this model then upgrade to their next step. Kudos to their marketing.

Please don't mistake this reel for an entry level offering. Granted, it doesn't have all of the options their Gold Series reels have. However, it's a high quality reel at an affordable price.

a pins a pin, only tolerences and preferences differ them. all pins will catch fish the same way. Reel looks nice, would not expect anything less from Kingpin.

I am sure it is a nice $329 reel. I meant it is more of an entry level model than their high end reels. It is strategically priced less than an Islander and Sirata yet more than the likes of a Raven and Sheffield. The thing which may hurt is the people who bought a Kingpin for the status of the high end reel which most people cannot afford or would not spend may now feel they have been slighted. Alot of people buy high end equipment for performance, status and the fact not everyone has one (the haves and have nots syndrome). This will change with Kingpin now. They will pick up ALOT of the lower end sales but lose some of the higher end buyers. This is still marketing at it's finest. They will grow the sales and isn't that what it is all about. They may have hurt their status as one of the "Top Dogs" for more coin. One more reel option is not a bad thing for the masses.

You raise some good points, ts22194, and I'm sure at the very least, partially correct.
Time will tell, and very positively, the marketplace, will have the final answer.
I received some new images of the reel today, and post them for viewing.
The prototype reels will be out to the Pro Staff by the end of this week, so watch for them on the rivers in your area. Don't hesitate to ask for a drift or two, if you see them being used.
