Ryan,
I am also looking into the raven blanks for a float rod. Are they a fast action? I have not located a vendor that sells the Blanks. Any sugestions?
Thanks
Marc

You mean IM8 Right? That's the blank I'm buying.
I think the best thing he can do is get out with as many people as possible and try different rods. All the rods mentioned have their following and for a reason, but is there reason the same as what yours could be? What i mean is this, I love the G.Loomis stfr1601 others don't like it at all but that doesn't mean it's a bad rod just not what they want in a rod. If you can understand what I'm trying to say then go out and form your own opinion on different rods and go from there.

driftabugger, where are you getting the raven blank?? i would also say that if you are not in need of a rod exceeding 13ft in length, you cant beat a rainshadow rx7 blank, best bang for the buck, dont get me wrong though they are awesome rods/blanks. and the blanks all under 100 bucks, most being $70-85. check out this site for rainshadow blanks, best prices i have seen so far http://shofftackle.com/shoffssh.html
Thanks guys, right now I have a Loomis GL2 6-10lb. that is 10' long works good for bottom bouncing and fishing floats but a longer rod would help with line control on the longer drifts with a float. I fish the Big Man. mainly and a longer rod would really help with some of the holes in the middle of the river. Thanks for everyones imput I am glad that I didn't order the Aventa I would not be happy when my rod broke on the first fish hooked on the rod. Thanks again.
I'll be getting my blank fro Craig@erieoutfitters. Great shop great guy send him a PM.
