Raven RV9 13.5 Just had it in my hands for the first time. Ravens best so for. Light fast with just right amount of back bone. Nice for all who were asking defently worth taking a look at. I hate to say it but it but it feels IMX like. Sorry Loomis but telling the truth.....Craig
What's the price on that bad dude?
Do you have one in the store atm?
I've been fishing the RV9 since last monday and landed 50-60 fish so far. I love this rod, great tip and enough backbone to handle big lakers and steel in the lower niagara. I've been using 6lb leader and giving fish hell and I've yet to snap a line even with the heavy flows we had this week in wny. I also own a Rainshadow XST, an IST, a GLX 2 power and this is my go to rod at the moment. I LIKES.. Craig, I'm one of the guys that called looking for the RV9 the week before last. I found it local, sorry man I'll make it up to ya!
Im glad you got one no worries! Also glad you like it.
IMX like , well I handled it in the store & never did IMX enter my mind , didn't feel like my imx
How many IMX's have you fished besides the one you own? I've fished quite a few and every single one of them felt different in some way. So for Craig to say it felt IMXish isn't a false statement as he could have fished one that felt like it. Cheers, Brian
I wouldn't whip my dog with a factory tied IMX, however nothing in the world compares to my custom. night and day between the 2. I'll take Craig's word, he's fished more than i'll ever hold and knows enough to tell the differences. So at his word I'd say it's a sweet stick.
true dat Boo
I didn't say anything negative about the rod , I just said it didn't feel like my IMX , I only handled it a few times in the store , 1st off I didn't really like it , took another look at & it seems like a decent rod , however I chose the new St.Croix Avid 13ft which i really liked each time I handled it , I actually still have it on order along with the 11ft & 15ft
I really like my factory IMX , not saying I would not like to get 1 built though ,
For those interested
I have had three custom IMXs. All three were by different builders. All three were different. The best by far was by JC Tackle. By Far! He has a guide placement that put the most power available in the rod. And for me is the most pleasure to fish. When I fish it. But, I have to confess, that MY most favoured rod is the CTS 3pc,13'6"floatrod, also by JC. Not available from New Zealand as it is an exclusive blank to JC. FWIW
Sorry to start such a mess! First let me say I have never felt a factory/custom IMX 1562 I havent liked . I think that blank/rod has stood the test of time in the hands of the most of the best steelheaders in the country. Not sure CTX, Raven or GLX for that matter will ever replace it.The new Raven would not be masaken for a IMX but is the closest thing I have felt so far in action. After fishing the RV9 it is slighty softer but still feels IMX like take it for whats its worth. In that price range a hell of a rod. RDR ,you did a hell of a job and my hats of to you. Bill Shearer just taking the time to say Happy New Year I hope the rivers treat you well.........Craig
