Good info here - read down to the patters section and you should be able to find the ones mentioned online.
http://www.wetieit.com/blog/index.php?category=2 http://www.wetieit.com/store/index.php? ... t&catId=14 I saw the shop owner on VS fishing muskies up near Boulder WI. Real deal when it comes to muskies on the fly. I guess it helps to have them in your back yard! He makes a custom weedguard for his flies you can buy through his shop. I bought a bunch to add to my deerhair bass bugs. Cool concept. Hope it's a start and good luck!
Thanks man, yea he is a cool guy i have met him at some shows and one of my buddies i guess is friends with him...
thanks for the reply, i visited the site but i couldnt find anything when i was on it....thanks
The flies I like for pike are usually bright colors. I like using magnum bunny strips for the movement and the durability and sink rate. Some I tied in at the eye of the hook with lead eyes.
Another fly I have tied that worked for pike is a magnum strip for a tail and crossscut strip wound up the shank. Another variation is to spin some deer hair for a head too. You can play with the color combos, but white, red, and chartreuse seemed to work the best for me. Hope it helps. eddiewardo
make some big blantons flashtail whistlers. red&yellow is a good color
come on font......lets see one
I have some decent craft fur patterns....tied this one last spring as well as some in other colors, i am tying them now with silicone heads instead of the spun stuff, i like the new ones more.
Looking for some more streamers though.... ![]()
Here are the flies with the Silicone heads....

Before I went to Canada a few years ago Dan gave me a red and yellow flashtail whstler. My buddy Stan took this shot of one in action [img][/img] Dan has done very well with these flys when he fishes canada You may have met Dan Pieczonka 773-276-5562 when you gave a presentation atthe steelhead club Blantons flashtail whistler is a saltwater pattern if you google dan Blanton you can see some great patterns. its also in the fly shop catalog thier version is little larger and more exstreme than the one I used. with the beadchain eyes and the flash-tail you get a slow jigging action that causes the tail to move in a wave like fashion-very effective and easier to cast than the big bunny flys
PIKE/MUSKIE FLY MATERIAL
CRAFT FUR WORKS GOOD, ANOTHER MATERIAL IS YAK HAIR. IT'S A NATURAL FIBER AND DOESN'T SOAK UP ANY WATER. SO YOU CAN CAST A(ONE) FLY ALL DAY.PLUS YOU CAN GET IT UP TO APPROX 12" LONG. IN A MULTITUDE OF COLORS. GODD CRNKLY STUFF FOR A BIF PROFILE. BILL S. HAS IT@ WETIEIT.COM OR FEATHERCRAFT.COM/STLOUIS ,MO ALSO.
I DEVELOPED A PATTERN I CALL THE YAK-ATTACK. BIG PROFILE BIG FISH PATTERN. IN A SUCKER/CISCO GREY,SM. MOUTH BASS AND PERCH COLORS. FISH'EM HARD
If you don't have Robert Tomes book "Musky On The Fly" get it! The bible of musky fishing with a fly and by proxy Northerns.
