Float Style

What style of float would be better to use, a fixed float or a slip float? Or does it depend on where and under what conditions you are fishing under? I plan on fishing along the Grand river.

I think that you will find most anglers fish fixed floats with a swivel between their rod tip and float to prevent line twist. I prefer to use slip floats with float stops above and below the float to make it into a fixed float. Both methods are used to prevent line twist caused by the float. My set up is no good when it's cold and ice prevents the slip float from spinning on the line. More slip floats are becoming available ,however there are still a larger selection of fixed floats to choose from.
