I am interested to hear if anybody has ever tried using the "tippet rings" to attach your tippet to the leader. "They" say that they weigh next to nothing at only 2mm in diameter and can even be used with a dry fly.
If you have......Do you feel that the connection is in the same area of strength as with tying the tippet directly to the leader? Is there some kind of hinging action that goes on with heavier streamers and weighted nymphs? Does it tend to get snagged between rocks, such as split shot can?
Are there any advantages, besides not having to shorten the leader every time the tippet breaks, or when you want to change tippet size?
Is there a certain brand you prefer over the next?
Tell me what you think/know, as I "may" get some to try out this season.
Thanks.
