I am looking for like a 6' or 6 foot 6 inch 2 wt or so. Just something for some little trout. I've never built a rod before, but wouldn't mind trying as long as I can find a kit with everything in it... I've been looking around online for about a week now and find some stuff, but not a whole lot. Is this an uncommon size to build or buy pre made? I have a budget of around $100...not sure if I will find anything that "cheap"...I would even buy a rod/reel combo if the price is right....any ideas? Thanks.

Check these out. http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog ... y-Rod-Kits. They offer a 6'6" 3 piece 2 weight kit(kit number MHXFK-1 or blank number F662-3-MHX). Based on my experience with other MHX blanks, this blank should be fantastic!
Re: 6' 2 wt
PB78,
First off welcome to rod building forum! From my experience building a 2wt 6-6 or 6-0 would not be my first choice for a first rod build. The tips on a 2wt 6-6 or 6-0 are VERY fine and are not the easiest thing to work on when you get to the tip area of the blank. Don't get me wrong it can and has been done before. You'll just have to take your time and do not put to much pressure on either the thread or the blank when building it. Just sit back and take your time. I am in the middle of building a 2wt 6-6 2pc rod and I broke the top off (at the second guide) during my rod build. I used the http://store.hookhack.com/Rainshadow-RX7-IM6-66-2-wt-IM6-Blank-2-pc/productinfo/HBB662B/ rod blank for my build. Yes it was covered under warranty to have it replaced but it took a month before i got it back. The blank kit that GobyOneGnoby posted is a good one and I think you will be hard to beat that kit and the price. Since this will be your first build please feel free to post any questions that you might have and don't forget to read the checklist at the top of the rod building forum to make sure you have all the things you will need for the build. Re: 6' 2 wt
Thanks for the info...the more I am looking the more pricy it is looking...my main thought for building my own rod was to save money and thought it might be a fun challenge. But after looking it is looking like it will be a bit more than I can really afford at the moment...any one know of any rod/reel outfits out there that I could find for around $100 or so...
