Report: New guy saying hello. I'm a regular to the PA tribs, so many reports to come. Here is a west coaster from a few weeks ago...

Thanks for the welcome. I fish PA all the time, I'm in the Pittsburgh area but travel out of state and around the state for fishing regularly. I hear their's good trout streams around Johnstown, is this true?

Yep-I'd say that in a little over a month start towards the new york border-should at the very least have a few at river mouths by then, and maybe a few bonus fish in the rivers on the other side of the bay.

I would say that there are probably a few cruising the shoreline right now. The next good rain should bring a few fish in. There are normally fish up in the tribs by Labor Day. Normally the 3rd or 4th week of August the fish start showing up in the surf. Going to New York for kings next weekend I'll be out there fishing the surf and lower rivers when I get back. The only time I fish PA tribs is late August through early October. Once the crowds come out I go back to Ohio.

Great first post. I'm sure you'll be a real asset to this forum. Actually I'm from Western NY, just spending some time in PA.

I hope your not talking about me. No one has ever called me no crust, I really don't even know what that means.

Will some people post pics of steelies or browns? Has anyone here ever had any mounted or caught a trophy size fish? I'm just starting to get into steelhead and trout fishing so im interested to see how big some of the local fish are, along with some of the ones that locals have caught. Do you use a steelhead rod for trout or do most of you just use a 5' or 6' ultralite or light.
