TP collins--
Not to sound negative, but think of the money that you have spent on this so far--My advice-- GET A GUIDE THAT KNOWS FLOAT FISHING FOR A DAY!!!!
that will be the easiest thing to help you out right now, and it will be great money spent.
You are very confused on some main points pertaining to float fishing. If you get a guide for even a day this will help you out in immeasurable ways...

Re: Float fishing
Night20+ is spot on,but you could glean as much info for less dough if you befriend a seasoned float fisherman. Next time you see someone catching fish under a float on the Big,be courteous and friendly, then ask a few questions and try to garner some helpful info. It's all a learning process and those who learn quicker catch more fish!
Good advice right there
Leave everything else at home. You have to work it out. When you run to another rod your not doing yourself any good. Hang in there Bro, You'll find some good people if you look a little harder. Do as others Do. Watch-listen-learn. Hell everyones' an expert nowadays
Float fishing
Well, the "friend' thing crossed my mind, but the fact of the matter is at this point (as I have followed his posts for the last year and a half) I'm not sure he could recognize someone who really has float fishing down, honestly!
I used word "guide" as a helpful person as I would think at this point the guide would definetly be helpful in accurate info and should be able to explain the whys and when's. TP has spent quite a bit of time and a lot of money on getting this, and obviously at this point needs some good help. If I lived anywhere near where he fished I would have taken him out last spring already.....
Re: Tippy
The offer stands TP. There will be other experienced float guys I'm sure (some fishing with me) at that time. I'm no guide but Tippy is my home water. You can learn alot from a couple guys in a few hours on the water.
Thanks
Thanks for the offer FishKilla419 but I'll be sitting in a treestand here in Washtenaw county that first week of gun. Not sure when I'll get back up there but I'll be bringing some heaier floats when I do. Thanks again.
Tim

Thanks N, AKA FishKILLA 419
The T Line worked wonderful, when you going back up so I can get you your spool back? Great with the mend all the way to the dock especially on Sat where it was as windy as a Siberian sand storm. Would not have been able to do that with the 15lb Siglon and a 5.5 g float. Bought a 11g for those windy conditions and i think on sunday it cost me a fish or two. (Not to mention the 4 inches of snow in 7 hours was not fun to drive in) Went back to the 5.5 g and hooked up with a few browns and one salmon which took me all the way to the dock before breaking the hook off my 6lb. (the bob sank within a few seconds after the cast and I must have dropped the line/hook right on his back as it was not hooked in the mouth from the way it fought) Jumped a couple of times and danced on the surface a few times as it was going down river. Wow!!!1 that is all I can say. call.
