Coming up from St. Louis day after christmas. Any advice on rivers to fish and which ones might not be frozen up.
Re: Christmas Steelhead
Where are you coming up to? You can check the reports pages for the various States which surround the Great Lakes, to see what is going on.
Re: Christmas Steelhead
Indiana creeks stay pretty open, especially lower Little Calumet.
Re: Christmas Steelhead
I can actually come to any of these states on this site. I want to bring my two sons on a good trip. Have fished for steelies a little in most of the states covered on steelheadsite but know that ice can be a problem after christmas, so looking for spring fed or rivers that dont freeze as bad. I guide for smallies and trout on rivers near St. Louis and would trade a trip for some good steelhead fishing. Thanks
Re: Christmas Steelhead
Thanks for your reply. I guide near St. Louis on rivers for smallies and trout but steelies are my favorite. Would trade a trip for some good steelhead action. I catch big smallies all winter long provided the water is up.
